Kyambogo University Faces Criticism as 19th Graduates Express Frustration Over Delayed Transcript Release

Kyambogo University recently celebrated its 19th graduation ceremony, conferring degrees and diplomas upon more than 19,000 students during a three-day event held on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of December 2023. However, the joyous occasion has been marred by growing discontent among the graduates due to the university's delay in releasing transcripts.

While the graduation ceremony itself was a momentous occasion, it seems that the subsequent steps to provide graduates with their transcripts have not been as smooth. In contrast to Kyambogo University, Makerere University has already commenced the distribution of transcripts to graduands in preparation for their 74th graduation, scheduled for the 2nd of February.

The delay in releasing transcripts has left many Kyambogo graduates frustrated and concerned about the impact on their future endeavors. A transcript is a crucial document that holds academic records and is often required for various purposes such as job applications, further education, and professional certifications.

The disparities between Kyambogo and Makerere in this regard have sparked discussions among the student body, with many expressing their dissatisfaction on social media platforms and other channels. Some graduates argue that the delay reflects poorly on the university's administrative efficiency and its commitment to the welfare of its students.

"Some kyu graduates stressed it out that sitting in the tent without  transcripts makes no essential  , so essentially it's a matter of travelling from wherever you are and come sit in the tent"

It is important for academic institutions to streamline post-graduation processes, ensuring that graduates receive their transcripts in a timely manner. The delayed transcript release not only inconveniences the graduates but also raises questions about the overall effectiveness of the university's administrative procedures.
We have been informed that some faculties have began receiving their transcripts as of 18th Jan , 2024

  1. Am really disappointed with the administrators at Kyambogo, they make every stagnant. I really don't know why, but the reality is that the hill of endless possibilities outshines us.
