KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY GRCs DISAGREE OVER ELECTIONS FUNDS

Disputes Emerge Among Kyambogo University Guild Representative Councillors Over Election Funds

In anticipation of the 20th Kyambogo University Guild elections, the Guild Representative Councillors (GRCs) convened for a crucial meeting, presided over by Rt Hon Speaker Bruce. The primary agenda was to review and approve the newly vetted members of the electoral commission and to give the green light to the budget required to facilitate the commission's activities.
The previous Guild elections, the 19th Kyambogo University Guild elections, saw the Electoral Commission utilizing a total of 53 million Ugandan Shillings. However, as the GRCs gathered for this significant meeting, uncertainty hung in the air regarding the budget for the upcoming 20th Guild elections.

The uncertainty surrounding the financial allocation quickly gave rise to disputes among the GRCs. Each faction had its own vision for how the money should be partitioned and utilized. As we delve deeper into the heart of this dispute, it becomes clear that the stakes are high. The allocation of funds directly impacts the success and fairness of the electoral process, making this a matter of utmost importance.

In the 19th Guild elections, the 53 million Ugandan Shillings proved instrumental in ensuring that the electoral process was conducted smoothly, but with the 20th elections on the horizon, no one seems to have a clear picture of the financial requirements. This lack of clarity has left the GRCs at an impasse, and a resolution is urgently needed to move forward. This has forced Rt Hon speaker Bruce to call off the house for a 5 mins break

As this dispute unfolds, we will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide updates on the progress toward resolving the budgetary issues. The eyes of Kyambogo University are on the GRCs, hoping for a swift and amicable resolution that will pave the way for transparent and successful elections. It has been agreed that the chairperson Ec and Vice Chairperson will be facilitated with 1.5M and 1M respectively  , General Secretary 1.3M, Commissioner 800,000
