The marvel of Forests in Sustainable Development

Forests is an area predominately occupied by tree. There is realized increase of the forests for over a years ago in 2011 it was 11% in 2015 it was 12% in 2019 it was 13% and it is increasing and by 2026 it’s meant to hit 24%
There is a slight decrease in the on the encroachment on the tree or forests in Uganda due to reduced demand on the charcoal and also increased use other sources of energy like the renewable energy
When your eyes look into the statistics of forestry for us to be able to have sustainable development of forestry we need to cope up with the best practices on forestry and as we go abroad about climate change we should now look into tapping other market for the forest products. If the population keeps growing and it’s still depending on the forestry for the most of the related wood products that means that our forests are at a danger of reducing

Roles of Forests in Sustainable Development
Provide timber, firewood, food charcoal
Development if you have the product
Supported health the more because they provide medicine and oxygen
Support energy sector
Forests act as catchment areas
Forests support agriculture (act as habitants for the pollinators)
Regulate temperatures
Trees secure the land
What is needed to restore the Sustainable forest practices?
Reduced deforestation and encroachment on the forests and this is inform of cutting down trees and this is can be solved through introducing other affordable sources of energy
Restoration of forests even those on private land should also plant trees

Making forests a business as it will inspire and attract more people to invest in the forest sector because after planting the trees or forests there is harvesting
Putting in place a number of strategies that promote value addition. And there was a World Bank Project under the theme Securing Uganda Natural Resources base in the protected areas and there was success for the project like
The main target is achieve by 90% and this included;
Supporting the Law Enforcement team
Increased community engagement in the forest management
Trained communities and women groups in the management of Nursery beds so that they can have the seedlings and also sell to others

Let’s make the forest a business and it will inspire and attract more people to invest in the forestry because after planting them they will be able to harvest them. Trees secure land and that means that anyone who comes up to claim the land and finds the, there will be double payment and this also helps to save the forests for a greener tomorrow. You cannot do away with wood and if you are doing investment invest in forestry
One tree saves a billion lives for a tomorrow, as a nation let’s all engage in planting trees for a greener let’s not be the ones who will look for a shade where to park the car because you have not planted a tree
