DIVISION ERUPTS IN FDC KYAMBOGO UNIVERSITY CHAPTER AHEAD OF THE 20TH GUILD ELECTIONS

Division Erupts in FDC Kyambogo University Chapter Ahead of Guild Elections

Kyambogo University, September 28, 2023 - Tensions are mounting within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Kyambogo University chapter as the upcoming guild elections draw near. Scheduled for November 2023, these elections have exposed a deep-rooted divide within the party, raising concerns about unity and fair representation.

The core issue revolves around the selection of the FDC's flag bearer for the 20th Guild elections. While the democratic process typically involves primary elections to determine the party's candidate, a faction within the FDC Kyambogo chapter is pushing for a different approach. This faction, led by Hon Asasira Reacheal, the general secretary of the chapter, is advocating for Kamikaze to be appointed as the party's flag bearer without going through primaries.

This unilateral decision has sparked controversy within the chapter, with other aspirants, namely Emorut Alisa OKUNKU and Silver, voicing their objections. The chairperson of the FDC Kyambogo chapter, Alupo Marion, has temporarily halted the chapter's roadmap to address these pending petitions from party members. The illegal declaration of a flag bearer has left the chapter in a state of uncertainty.

Another petition came from the aspirants Emorut Phillip alias Okunku who petitioned against the wrong delegation on 20th, 08, 2023 and petitioned wasn't listened too . The electoral commission conducting the process was never sworn in the office .

What's particularly concerning is that this internal division within the FDC Kyambogo chapter seems to mirror larger fissures within the national FDC party. The emergence of factions like the Katonga Road faction and the Najjanakumbi faction at the national level suggests that the party is experiencing internal turmoil, potentially affecting its grassroots operations.

The question now arises: are these national party wrangles being propagated to the grassroots level? The situation at Kyambogo University serves as a microcosm of broader issues facing the FDC. The outcome of this internal struggle will not only impact the upcoming guild elections but could also have wider implications for the party's stability and unity on a national scale.

The stakes are high, not only for the university but for the party as a whole, as it grapples with the challenges of maintaining its cohesion in the face of growing divisions.

    2. Some of these things are just political games..
The party has a very clear constitution as regards to getting a flag bearer..if they've really appointed someone without any democracy then that's so wrong and should be properly handled by the party chairperson of the chapter..
I firmly believe this issues can be ironed out without much struggles
