Kyambogo University is Set to Build Multi-Purpose Sports Complex and Modern Student Hostels

Kyambogo University, Uganda's second largest public university, has announced an ambitious plan to enhance its infrastructure through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. As part of its Resource Mobilization and Investment Policy, the university is seeking private partners to develop two significant projects: modern student accommodation and a multi-purpose sports complex with a business center. This comes after the MOU that was signed by the Vc Kyambogo University Prof Eli Katunguka on 23rd Feb 2024 with National council Of sports to construct the state of the art cricket oval to meet international standards
The next phase is to sign another MOU to develop the football pitch in preparation for the Africa cup of Nations in 2027 the Vc stated in Feb 2024
Project 1: Modern Student Accommodation
To address the growing need for student housing, Kyambogo University plans to construct state-of-the-art hostels. This project is divided into three lots:
Lot 1:Accommodation for 2,700 to 2,800 students
Lot 2: Accommodation for 3,500 to 3,600 students
Lot 3: Accommodation for 3,600 to 3,700 students
Each bidder can bid for up to three lots, with a maximum award of three lots to any single bidder.
Project 2: Multi-Purpose Sports Complex and Business Centre
In a move to enhance sports and recreational facilities, the university aims to build a multi-purpose sports complex and an accompanying business center.The sports complex is perpuated to act as a training ground for the upcoming AFCON .
This project is divided into two lots:
Lot 1: Multi-purpose Sports Complex
Lot 2:Business Centre
Bidders can express interest in either or both projects, with a maximum of two lots per bidder.
Call for Expression of Interest
Kyambogo University is inviting competent companies to submit their expression of interest by 26th August 2024. Interested companies should send a letter requesting a pre-qualification document to pppprojectofficer@kyu.ac.ug or rbataringaya@gmail.com. The request must include the company's name, contact person(s), and contact details.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in improving the university's infrastructure and providing better facilities for its student population, which has grown to about 35,000 in 2024. Through these projects, Kyambogo University continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the educational experience and overall well-being of its students.
