ANGRY KYU GUILD LEADERS STORM THE SENATE -NO TO TUITION INCREMENT
Kyambogo University Guild leaders hold a one way move to senate.Started at around 12pm by addressing a press conference headed by the guild President , guild Speaker, and other guild leaders. This happens after days of controversy and conspiracy theories about who signed the tuition increment policy .
They moved to senate with a petition while chanting songs of dissatisfaction about how management is holding things.
The petition was addressed to the Chairperson University Council Madam Nakabugo Gorret, and it was well received by the University secretary who's the secretary of the University council.
The Guild leaders have decided that they'll make a follow up on Monday next week and they're not giving up till their demands are met. While addressing the press conference, Mr Mwebesa stated:
We are so much shocked about this tuition increment that's happening in our regime. Together with the Guild House, we're challenging this decision and we want the University council to reverse their resolutions.
Personally, I didn't know about these things until they started happening of recent. I'll not relent until my cry is heard"

These angry protesters wanted to enter into Senate.
However, they were intercepted by police and only 6 were allowed to enter into the senate building to deliver their petition police handled them in a way that seemed like pre planned and no disputes arose.Mwebesa Reagan, Kayemba Muhammed, Obasanjo Jordan (Prime Minister), OTIM TIMOTHY(Minister for projects), Bwete TONNEY (GRC Evening students), ACEN WINNIE (GRC S.O.M.E).
However, the reception by police demotivated some of the protesters who started singing.
"Police... Our motherland.. we shall never... forget you"
Other chants were
"We want to tear gas"
It should be noted that Freshers are expected to report on 3rd August next week and start orientation on 5th upto 9th as per the Academic Calendar.
Also, the 20th Guild Bazaar (an event organized to entertain freshers where there are stalls where commodities are sold to these freshers) under the Ministry of Social Campus, and Off Campus Affairs is in balance..
We don't know whether all these events will be held despite the tensions ongoing...
The student demands remain
1. No tuition increment
2.Results of students who sat exams with pending fees shouldn't be cancelled
3.Faculty allowances should be paid
4. Release results in time
5. Guild fees must not increase
Next week we shall getting the next course of action by the Guild leaders over these social events
On behalf of all the kyambogo University Common students. I deeply detest some of these draconian policies, our parents are struggling to pay TUTION and selfish Kyambogo University staff members are interested in looting them instead of offering holistic education. The common students will respond.
